Open Payments is a federal program requiring drug and device companies to provide an annual disclosure to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) of payments they make to physicians and teaching hospitals.
Physicians registered in the Open Payments system are able to review and dispute those payments between April 1, and May 15. In order to review and dispute any reported payments, physicians must be registered in the Open Payments system.
The data is published on the CMS Open Payments website and is available to the public at the end of June.
Children's Compliance Office encourages physicians to participate by tracking their financial relationships with applicable manufacturers and reviewing data reported about them in the Open Payments system to ensure the accuracy of the information.
